Liquid Cooling Butterfly Valve Welding Inspection

water cooling Butterfly Valve weld inspection generally consists of two parts:

1. Document Review

WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications (WPQ) are required.

The WPS must cover the key variables required by the order, including base metal, welding consumables, welding method, groove type, thickness, preheating, and post-weld heat treatment.

WPSs assessed according to ASME Section IX and NB/T47014 have corresponding key variable specifications. Changes to key variables require reassessment.

2. On-site Weld Inspection

Visual inspection (VT) is typically used to check for obvious weld defects such as cracks, undercuts, weld beads, poor forming, burn-through, and spatter.

For overlay welds on the sealing surface, PT is usually used to check for cracks, and the sealing surface hardness is also tested.

For inspection of the inlay welds between the cooling water Butterfly Valve seat and Butterfly Valve cooling system body, a smooth appearance, free of undercuts, misalignment, and weld beads are generally sufficient.

For inspection of structural welds such as extension pipes, RT or UT inspection of internal quality is required when required by the order.
